Tummy Time: Brems Style

Tummy time has always been an... interesting exercise in our household. From the very first time, Joseph hated tummy time. What can I say though, he's a Brems and has a big noggin- it's very difficult to hold up and he would let us know that he didn't like doing it. Tummy time has been a constant battle for us over the past 3 months, which usually very quickly resulted in him crying, getting tired, lying his head on the floor in defeat, and falling asleep from exhaustion.

Now, to Joseph's credit, he has gotten a lot better at holding his head up, but he still hated tummy time. Today, I got a text from Jodie that she had decided to fight fire with fire- Tummy Time: Brems Style. In order to lift that big Brems noggin, you got to distract him with a Brems interest. Because of his strong dislike of tummy time, it would require the strongest interest of a Brems boy- a computer. Suddenly, tummy time worked!

Hence, I give you, Tummy Time: Brems Style

Not surprisingly, the new tummy time is a complete success!

Well, it is amazing how fast Joseph is growing and how quickly he seems to be learning, and sometimes mastering, new skills. Here are just a few of the new skills.

Smiling. He has definitely mastered this skill. It's amazing how powerful this boy's smiles are at brightening my day. I can't help but see him smile and think that today is going to be a wonderful day.

How fingers work. Over the past few weeks, Joseph has discovered that he both has fingers and that he can control them. He will stare at his fingers while he practices pinching his thumb and index finger together. He is also starting to grab his hands together and practice playing with his fingers.

Grabbing objects. This came very quickly following the discovery of fingers. He is starting to deliberately grab and hold objects that are close to his reach. Although, we still need to work on spatial perception, Joseph is starting to master the art of grabbing.
