We had a lot of fun spending some time with Grandma and Grandpa Perkins and glad that Joseph was able to meet them.
The next first was Joseph's first plane ride. He did really well on the flight and actually slept for most of it. Here's a picture of Joseph in his stroller at the airport in Seattle.
We spent the weekend with Jodie's parents before making the next leg of our vacation. While we were there, Joseph surprised us with another first- rolling over. We were practicing our tummy time and Joseph surprised us, and himself, with a roll over onto his back. Here's the pictures of him rolling over.
Afterwards, he also got to spend some time giggling and laughing at Grandpa's funny faces.
Although this isn't a first, its the first time daddy got a picture of Joseph holding his bottle.
All in all, it was a great day and wore him out pretty good.
On Monday morning, we set out on another first- first trip home to Hawaii. Here's Joseph all bundled up and ready for the the flight to Hawaii to meet his extended family.
Again, Joseph performed very well on this flight, although it was much longer. Personally, I'm glad that I had a much shorter flight to "practice" on before making the long jaunt across the Pacific. However, with a little help from Grandma and Grandpa, Joseph handled the flight very well.
Another first on our trip was the first taste of solid foods- poi (a Polynesian staple made from taro root). Here's a picture of Joseph's first taste of poi.
The verdict is still out... (this stage didn't last very long)
The final result- he loves it. He would actually fuss and cry until Jodie got him more poi. He's definitely true Hawaiian boy.
On a little side note, here's a picture I took of Rabbit Island. It was a beautiful day and the view was amazing.
Ok, back to Joseph's firsts. We've had to be careful about taking Joseph to the beach because the jellyfish have been out, but we finally got to go to our first trip to the beach. However, this first was met with mixed results. He loved playing in the sand, as it seems all little boys do.
He seemed to really enjoy the different texture of the sand, especially digging his toes into the sand.
However, Joseph wasn't the biggest fan of the water- it was much colder than his closely regulated bath water temperature of 93 degrees. Although, with a little bit of encouragement and coaxing from Grandpa, he took to the water a little better.
Afterwards, we decided to walk down the beach a little ways and enjoy the scenery. Although, Grandpa seemed to get a little bored with just walking down the beach and tried to "encourage" Jodie to also get into the water like Joseph.
Here's Grandma and Joseph enjoying the ocean waves.
Joseph, Grandpa, and I stopping for a picture.
Grandpa, being unable to get any one else into the water, got a little bored and decided to go in himself.
For these next two pictures, the picture I wanted to originally take was the second picture. However, as I was getting ready, the first picture was my view. I thought it was kind of funny to see Grandpa in his element and had to take the picture.
Love and Aloha from Hawaii
