Animals

So, Target has some amazing deals going for some children and picture books.  In their dollar section, they had quite a few things for Joseph.  Some of them he'll grow into, but we're still having fun with them.  For example, the Animal Sound cards.  The cards had a picture of different animals and the sounds that they make.  I thought it would be something fun to do with him as he gets just a little older.  Anyway, we had a fun discovery as we went through the cards.  According to these cards, Joseph is a koala.

However, after going through the rest of the cards, we found another option.  Joseph could be an orangutan.

Which one do you think Joseph prefers?

Whether a baby koala or orangutan, we are very proud of our little boy.

First Roadtrip and First Time at Church

So, this past weekend, Joseph turned a month old.   To celebrate, we decided to go on his first road trip and meet some of his aunts and uncles.  To show off how much of a big boy he was, he also got to wear shoes.  Here's a picture of his outfit.

Also, during the trip, he went to church for his first time.  Here's a picture of his outfit for church.

Sitting with Daddy before heading off to go to church.

All in all, Joseph did very well his first time at church and made it through most of the three hours sleeping.  However, based on how he looked when we got home, you wouldn't have guessed that he had such an easy time at church.

After church, he got to meet some more of the family.  We didn't get pictures with everyone, but here's a few highlights.

Spending some time with his Aunt Jenna.

Napping with grandpa, while he was napping too.

Meeting his uncle Robert.

Unfortunately, we didn't get a picture with Uncle Jason and Aunt Angie, but Joseph was very excited to meet them.  Especially Angie, whom Joseph gave a big smile to and then proceeded to pee on.  Sorry Ang, its his only way of showing his affection right now.  Anyway, it was a fun trip and Joseph handled the 2 hour car ride home very well, sleeping through most of it.

In closing, here are two more recent pictures of our little man.  The first one, Mommy had some fun with the camera and got some great pictures of his eyes, which are starting to lighten slightly.

Lastly, here's a picture of Daddy and Joseph taking a short nap before we all went to the store today.

Uncle John

So, Jodie and I have a family tradition of inviting people over for Sunday dinners.  Over the years, our guests have changed with us.  At first while we were dating, we would have our roommates join us for Sunday dinner. Later when Jodie's brother Shaun started school at BYU, he started coming over for Sunday dinners too.  When we moved to Arizona, my younger brother John started coming over.  It's been a fun tradition for us and its been fun to spend time and share what we have with our family and friends.  Also, on a fun side note, two of our roommates ended up dating and getting married thanks to our Sunday dinners.

Anyways, Joseph got to spend some quality time with his uncle John today.  It was really nice because Joseph was a little restless and John started rocking him.  It wasn't too long before Joseph was completely knocked out.  Here's a picture of the two guys.

Later today, I learned an important lesson about diaper genies.  First some background about a diaper genie.  For those of you who don't know what they are, they are essentially a specialized trash can that holds dirty diapers.  Within the first 24 hours of Joseph coming home, I really began to appreciate the diaper genie when our bathroom began to stink from a diaper or two that was thrown into the waste basket.  Needless to say, the diaper genie is very effective at keeping the stench of dirty diapers contained and I am a big fan.  However, I learned an important lesson about the diaper genie- make sure the plastic liner isn't running out.  So, I went to take out the diapers today and to my surprise, I find the diaper genie completely full of diapers, but not in plastic liner.  The plastic liner cartridge had run out and part of the bag liner came undone and partially closed itself.  Here's a picture of the difference, only 2 diapers in the liner  compared to the trash bag on the right with all the other diapers.

Anyways, it was a good lesson to learn while Joseph is only three weeks old and his diapers are fairly mild.

Family Pictures

Well, here's a few new pictures, including a family picture.

Joseph doing his most favorite activity. This is also his most common sleeping position, which is perfect for him because he is very active while he sleeps.

Joseph, trying to do a shaka, almost there.

We hope that everything is going well for you.

Week 2

Although we have already announced Joseph's birth on our blog, here is a picture of his official announcement.

So, on Thursday, Joseph turned two weeks old. As I look back, its hard to believe how much he has grown over that time. He is eating really well (put on 1.5 pounds over the past week) and sleeps as well as can be hoped for a newborn. He's starting to show off his personality a little more and its fun to see certain traits develop. Anyway, here's a collection of a few pictures of my little man.

One of my favorite outfits for him.

So far, he really enjoys cuddling. Jodie and mom put him down on the pillow for a second and he wiggled around until he ended up in this position.

For this past week, he has been able to spend a lot of time with Grandma Vidinhar- usually early, early in the morning. Anyway, Grandma dressed him in this outfit- the shorts are still a little big, but oh so very cute.

He also really likes his baths. Well, being in the water at least. Once you take him out of the water, or if too much of his body is out of the water, you would think the the world is ending by the way he cries. However, once you wrap him up again, all is calm again. Here he is after one of his baths.

Here's one of Jodie's favorite pictures

Here's a special outfit that G & G Vidinhar got for him.

Another one of our favorite pictures

Well, its been an exciting two weeks for all of us. Lots of changes. Most of them very fun and exciting. Others, well... not so much. Either way, I wouldn't trade them for anything.
