Adventures in the Kitchen

Yesterday, Joseph had his 9 month check-up.  27 inches tall and about 17.5 lbs- which makes him officially... a little squirt... still.  No surprise there.  Although short in stature, he makes up for it with being an extra active little boy.  Lately, he has claimed the kitchen as his own territory.  Although, in the battle with mommy and daddy for the kitchen, Joseph has lost some of his favorite "toys."  Most notable has been our trash can.  Because he was drawn to it almost hypnotically, the trash can has mysteriously vanished from the kitchen.  With the trash can lost somewhere in the Bermuda Triangle, Joseph's new favorite play place is the pantry.  Here are some pictures of his daily trip to the pantry.

One of the first objects that Joseph goes for is his beloved yogurt.  For a while now, he has recognized the container and it is a favorite quick target as he rummages through the pantry.

Once all the yogurts and usual "toys" are on the floor, it's time to explore a little.

Such as the chocolate and coconut covered macadamia nuts- he knows what the good stuff is.

Or some rope vines...

Which turned into a fabulous toy that kept Joseph occupied for the next little bit.

Who would have guessed that the rope vine could be so much fun to play with.

Unfortunately, there was one casualty of war during Joseph's excitement with the rope vine- the NutriGrain bar in the picture below.  By the time he was done playing, it had been reduced to a packet of granola.

The newest area that we have explored is the Tupperware cupboard.  It all started one night when Joseph was "helping" Jodie with the dishwasher.  Once Jodie opened the door, Joseph b-lined it straight to the cupboard and proceeded to empty the Tupperwares one by one onto the floor until we have this.

Wait, isn't there still something way in the back...

Never mind.

Today, Joseph also got to have his first haircut.  While he doesn't have much hair, some of the strands of hair were getting very long and a little crazy.  So, we got out our little clippers and buzzed Joseph's hair.  Between his moving and how fine his hair is, it wasn't the most easy task to accomplish.  However, with a little tag teaming- mommy and daddy eventually win out.

Overall, he did very well besides not keeping still.  He thought the clippers were hilarious, especially the vibrations.

Here's our bald little squirt that we love oh so much.

Have a good night!
