18 months

So, Joseph had his 18 month check up yesterday with his new doctor.  So, here's an update on where he stacks up: He weighs 22.5 pounds and is just over 31 inches- this puts him in the 20th percentile for weight and 9th for height.  However, his head circumference puts him in the 93rd percentile.  So, with how smart this little kid is, I'm convinced we have a little marvin the martian on our hands.

So, what is this little boy up to these days?  Mainly, he has become a professional copycat.  For example, this morning, we were trying to help him stretch out his legs after getting 4 shots yesterday.  So, Jodie and I started marching in place and he quickly followed.  Then we decided to throw in jumping jacks and he started doing some jumping jacks by squatting for a second and then throwing his hands up in the air.  However, he did get the best of us by spontaneously adding spinning in a circle and crawling between my legs between jumping jacks and marching.

Being a copycat has also helped in learning and mastering a few new activities, such as his shape puzzles and "signing" along to some of his favorite shows.  However, it has also created some new frustrations when he can't do something, such as whistling, but it is very cute to see him try.

He is also very much enjoying his art easel he got for Christmas- although he currently enjoys organizing his crayons more than drawing.

He's also really enjoying playing peak-a-boo and hide-and-go-seek.  It's really funny the places that he'll hide.

However, sometimes he doesn't even really need to hide, such as when I found Joseph after his nap one day.

Busted.

Joseph also really enjoys playing in his toy corner and making a mess.

 And rediscovering old toys.

Or discovering new ones, such as the wok.

Bath time has some new elements to it too, such as blowing some bubbles in the water.

He definitely enjoys bath time.

Another activity that happens daily is something that has led uncle Chad to say that Joseph is going to become a librarian.  Joseph will climb on top of his truck and reorganize Chad's DVD collection- although none of us can quite figure out he is organizing the movies.  However, Lion King and Tangled always get a prominent position, without fail.

Joseph still loves bubbles and will call them "va-va".

And yes, that is a bubble mustache- he really loves bubbles.

Joseph is also starting to expand his repertoire of movies that he will watch.  Here Joseph and I are one night watching Cars; he cracked up whenever the cars zoomed by.

Joseph is also starting to really develop a sweet tooth, especially Oreo cookies.  So, for family night last week, we decided to make some Oreo ice cream- it was a big hit.  The only problem about this sweet tooth is that he knows where everything is and will ask for it.

He has also figured out that he can control his remote control bus.

Joseph is also really starting to enjoy the camera- both saying cheese and wanting to see his pictures.  When you take the camera out, he will quickly smile like this and come running to see how his picture turned out.
